I’m To Sexy For My…..

What is sexy anyway? Is it the way you move? Is it the way you dress? Is it the way you rock your hair? Nope! Confidence is the key to being sexy. Ask any man and he will tell you, a confident woman, is a sexy woman. You can rock your 6 inch red bottoms, dress head to toe in the hotest fashion, and swing your Brazilian hair. But, without confidence, you are simply dolled up in insecurities! Take Chrissy Lampkin for example. Yeah, she may have a huge mole on her face, but her confidence within makes you forget it’s even there. She beautiful and she’s confident in her beauty.  Most woman think they must look like Beyonce to be considered beautiful. This couldn’t be farther from the truth! Ladies we have to learn to accept our flaws. If you have a huge forehead, like me, don’t hide it. You know who else has a big forehead…Tyra Banks, and she’s considered on of the world’s most beautiful women.  And do you think she would be where she is today without confidence…umm, no! So go forth and own your beauty, flaws and all.  Look yourself in the mirror everyday and say “I am beautiful”!

What happened to Hip Hop?!

Remember back in the day when Hip Hop was more than just a catchy chant! Artists like Slick Rick, Wu Tang Clan, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, and NWA made classics that were not only club bangers, but had a profound message as well. Yeah, you used to get super hype when you heard NWA say “I’m coming straight out of Compton”….but you also understood that they were speaking about the turmoil and tragedies taking place in their hometown. Their music helped to bring global awareness to the way people were being mistreated and abused by those who were supposed to protect them. Don’t get me wrong, I love a catchy tune as much as the next person. I’m just saying, I can only recite the hook of most songs out today. Rappers use to talk about drugs and killings simply to paint a picture of what the saw or experienced. These days rappers actually glorify these occurrences, rather than using it as a tool to educate the public. The sad part is, that most of your favorite rappers are actually quite intelligent. So why feed your listeners stupidity? To my surprise, I recently met a rapper by the name of Heavy (@EverythingHeavy on Twitter), whom reminds me of what Hip Hop used to be. Not only is this guy super intelligent in person, his intelligence is apparent in his music. We need more men and women like this in the rap game. Don’t call it a comeback….well I guess you can since this type of music has been MIA for a while now. I’m just saying!

The Harsh Reality of Reality TV

So Shaunie finally realized that initiating and participating in foolishness may not have been the best choice. Round of applause for Shaunie. What most reality stars don’t realize is that we mostly laugh at them…not with them. Sure the mess and drama makes for good entertainment…but that’s about it. The fact is reality shows have to have drama in order for the audience to tune in. Basically they set you up to play a fool from the day the contract is signed! For once I would like to see a cast of beautiful black women showing more than extensive knowledge of profanity and how to properly bust a bottle on someone’s head. Damn man!!! Bring back the Cosby Show!!
